The International Conference on Gas Hydrates (ICGH) takes place every three years in a different country around the world. It brings together a diverse group of scientists and engineers with a common interest in gas hydrates.
The first ICGH took place in New Paltz, New York ( USA ) in 1993. The conference has since been held in Toulouse (France) in 1996, Salt Lake City (USA) in 1999, Yokohama (Japan) in 2002, Trondheim (Norway) in 2005, Vancouver ( Canada ) in 2008. At the 7th ICGH in Edinburgh (UK) in 2011 Beijing ( China ) was selected as host for the 8th conference. Please accept my invitation to attend the 8th ICGH in Beijing from 28 July to 1 August 2014.
China is hosting this prestigious conference for the gas hydrate community on behalf of Asia . With the theme Opportunity and Challenge-Development and Utilization of Gas Hydrates, the 8th ICGH program will cover all facets of gas hydrate, including fundamentals, natural systems, energy, environmental impacts, and flow assurance. It will demonstrate how gas hydrate knowledge and applications contribute directly to meeting societal and industrial needs through innovation in energy- and safety-based industries. Gas hydrate research betters our understanding on mitigation of climate change and geo-hazards. The scientific program remains open for comments and additions and we invite your suggestions.
Beijing has been the heart of China’s history for centuries, and there is scarcely a major building of any age in Beijing that does not have national historical significance.
The city is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, and huge stonewalls and gates. Its art treasures and universities have long made it a centre of culture and art in China .
The 8th ICGH provides also a splendid opportunity for you to pay a visit to the city of Beijing .

Standard Registration: US $ 680  (4400 Yuan)  

Registration fees will cover lunches, morning and afternoon refreshments, one ticket per registrant to the welcome reception and conference banquet with Chinese art performance, conference materials including the detailed program and abstracts, and the free wireless access. Program and abstracts will be provided on an electronic tablet reader.
