Jean-Louis Davet is Chief Executive of MGEN, a French health mutual insurance and services company created in 1946 and covering 4 million people. MGEN provides complimentary health insurance and provident insurance, and also manages state health insurance (state social security) for civil servants in Education, Culture and other public services. Jean-Louis is also Chief Executive of ISTYA Group, an insurance group formed in 2011 by MGEN and five other health insurance mutuals, which is the largest health insurer in France covering 6.3 million people (10% of the French population). Jean-Louis started his career as a professor in mathematics at Paris University and as a researcher at CNRS (French National Scientific Research Center). In 1988 he switched to industry as Chief Executive of the French subsidiary of FESTO group, a German company specialized in automation. Then from 1992 to 2006, Jean-Louis, as Vice President of strategy consultancy firms (CMC-Mercer-Oliver Wymann, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young), has been working for leading companies in various industries (new technologies, telecom and internet operators, food retail, luxury, banks and financial institutions, insurance), before specializing in insurance and social protection. In 2006, he joined the executive committee of Mutualité Française (FNMF), the French federation of health mutuals, before joining MGEN in 2008. He graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Paris engineering and business school in 1983, and is a Doctor in Mathematics from Paris 6 University (1987).
