Jianhua Fu is a professor of the Department of Thoracic Oncology in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. He is also the director of Guangdong Esophageal Cancer Institute. He is one of the most skilled thoracic surgeons in China, especially in the field of minimally invasive esophagectomy. He is the leading specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of Chinese esophageal cancers. He nowadays devotes himself to the comprehensive and personalized treatment so as to improve the survival of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. He is currently a member of the standing committee of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) of Esophageal Cancer, a member of the standing executive committee of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO), a member of Esophageal Disease Group of Chinese Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (CSTCS), a member of the standing committee of Chinese Association of Thoracic Surgeons, president of Guangdong Anti-Cancer Association of Esophageal Cancer, vice-president of Guangdong Medical Association of Oncology. He was rewarded the second class of Guangdong Award for the Scientific and Technological Advancement in 2006, and the third class in 1999, respectively. He has published more than 20 papers as the corresponding author in world famous journals, such as Br J Cancer, Br J Surg, Ann Surg Oncol, J Thorac Oncol, Dis Esophagus, and et al, and over 80 papers in Chinese core journals.
