Mike Barnes, Manager at Dolby Laboratories.Mike Barnes has an extensive background in professional & consumer audio product innovation ranging from Digital Synthesizer development for Yamaha R&D, consumer MP3 & software applications in Creative Labs Advanced Technology Centre & 6 year stint as VP of Product/Marketing at Universal Audio Inc. leading them from 20-person start-up to a global brand leader.Moving into A/V communications, Mike spent 3 years as one of the founding members of Skype’s Innovation Lab “Skypeworks”, working in Estonia, Ukraine, Czech Republic & the US, Mike led product for the “Flamingo” bringing first generation x-platform browser-based web-calling to market via what became “Facebook Video Calling” leading the project thru ideation, prototype & strategic partnership.Mike joined Dolby’s Voice Communications Platform Group in 2014 in the role of Rich Media Communications Manager, to help productize Dolby’s innovative spatial audio technology & high-quality codec’s & digital signal processing for communications applications.Mike Holds a BSc from Exeter University & an MSc Music Information Technology from City University, London.
