Mr Henry Lewi is a Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in uro-oncology at Ramsay Springfield Hospital, radical prostate disease, cystectomy, HIFU, pelvic pain, prostate mapping, prostate cancer, kidney cancer, kidney stone and cystitis. His clinical interests: Uro-oncology including radical prostatectomy/cystectomy, HIFU, reconstructive urological surgery, pelvic pain, prostate mapping, prostatic disease and kidney cancer. Treatment and management of kidney stone disease and interstitial cystitis. His academic background:Qualified in Medicine (and Biochemistry) at Cardiff University and the Welsh National School of Medicine (University Hospital of Wales).Postgraduate surgical training was at the University of Edinburgh and the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh as a Lecturer in Surgery from 1976-1979.Worked at the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a Lecturer in Surgery and as a Welcome Research Fellow in Surgery from 1979-1983. This was followed by a position as a Senior Registrar in Urology to the Greater Glasgow Health Board 1983-1986. Consultant Urological Surgeon to Mid Essex Trust from 1986 and have been instrumental in the set-up and development of the urological service to the Mid Essex Trust since 1986. Retired from the NHS this year after 25 years as a senior consultant.Specialist in the diagnostics and treatment of prostate disease especially prostate cancer. Springfield Hospital nominated Mr Lewi to the Independent Healthcare Awards 2010 for Innovation in New Services for his work in prostate cancer diagnosis and he was shortlisted by the panel as a finalist.
