Biography: Mr Pokhrel has been working as an Assistant Professor at Kathmandu University School of Education for more than a decade. His area of interest is to improve quality of education. He has been working in Education and development, Integrity in education, and use of ICT in education. His major focus is to transform education system so that students develop the 21st century skills right from the beginning of their formal education. He has attended various international seminar, conferences and workshop as invited speaker and published various journal articles in International and national journals.
Topic: The Need for Developing Integrity Among Young Learners in Schools
Abstract: Integrity is one of the fundamental pillars of life and is essential to develop form schools. The paper presents the status of a research in academic integrity in the selected schools of Nepal. The existing practices of school students in those six fundamental values of academic integrity: Honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage (International Center for Academic Integrity, 2014) are presented in the paper. Further, the role of integrity in sustainable school education is the main thrust of the paper as one of the fundamental competences for the 21st century living. Different approaches to develop integrity in students will be the final section of the paper.
