大会背景：
随着信息技术的迅猛发展，以信息化、工业化深度融合为方向的科技革命席卷而来，智能工业正成为我国各地发展先进制造业的主攻方向。
2015年5月我国出台了《中国制造2025》，明确提出分“三步走”，对我国制造业转型升级和跨越发展作了整体部署。党的十九大报告进一步指出，加快建设制造强国，加快发展先进制造业，推动互联网、大数据、人工智能和实体经济深度融合，在中高端消费、创新引领、绿色低碳、共享经济、现代供应链、人力资本服务等领域培育新增长点、形成新动能。
在此背景下，由中国工程院主办，中国工程院信息与电子工程学部及中国光学工程学会承办，并联合国内外相关单位和行业协会定于2018年5月22日至23日在北京亦创国际会展中心举办“国际智能工业高端论坛，重点并围绕智人工智能、智能无人系统、智能制造、新能源汽车、工业机器人、智慧城市等领域开展交流。大会以“跨界创新，互联融合”为理念，构建一个多元、开放、创新的全球性共享平台，汇聚世界智能工业有识之士、专家学者、业界精英，创建全球智能工业大会合作发展新机制，探索智能工业发展新模式、增强经济发展新动能，引领全球资产革命新时代。论坛期间，还将召开中国工程院期刊《Engineering》 智能工业专题编委会会议，并出版智能工业专刊。
